Longarm Quilting Services & Rates

Every quilt that arrives in my studio gets the same thing: my full attention to the choices that matter to you. Stitch design, thread color, batting — these are all your decisions. I bring my detailed attention and skill, the APQS Millennium, and the full thread spectrum to complete your vision.

Batting

I use and sell Quilters Dream batting, made in the USA. Batting is charged separately by the linear inch. Quilters Dream 80/20 Cotton/Poly @ $0.36/in · Bamboo @ $0.42/in · White Cotton Deluxe @ $0.54/in · Wool @ $0.44/in. You're welcome to provide your own batting. I am happy to discuss other batting options with you. Frankly, there are a lot of fantastic options. Your quilt. Your choice.

Quilting

I charge 2.5¢ per square inch of your quilt top. A 60" x 80" quilt = 4,800 square inches x .025 = $120. Minimum charge is $50. You can choose the pantograph design from my library — or we can find one together. I do not charge extra for pantographs.

Thread

I carry both Glide and So Fine thread in a full spectrum of colors. Thread is included in your square inch price — no upcharge, ever. Your quilt, your color choice.

Shipping & Returns

Mail your quilt top and backing to me in Pella, Iowa. I'll quilt it and return it to you by the method we agree on. I'll confirm the return timeline before I begin. Iowa Sales Tax of 7% applies, based on your location. I'll send you an invoice after I complete your quit, and I appreciate a timely payment so I can return your quilt promptly.

Quilt Design Options

Not sure what pantograph or quilting design is right for your quilt? Contact me for a link to my pantograph gallery — I'm happy to walk you through the options. If nothing feels quite right, I'll help you find a design that fits your vision, at no additional cost to you. Your quilt, your choice.

How To Mail Your Quilt

Mailing a quilt you've worked hard on can feel nerve-wracking. Here's exactly what to do — it's simpler than you think!

  • Fold or roll your quilt top, backing, (and batting if using your own) separately. Rolling can prevent hard creases that are difficult to remove during quilting.

  • Make sure to cut your backing 4–6 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides. This gives the longarm machine the margin it needs to load your quilt properly.

  • Place everything in a plastic bag before boxing. Protect your quilt from any moisture during shipping.

  • Use a sturdy box with plenty of padding. A snug fit keeps things from shifting in transit.

  • Include a note with your name, phone number, and email — along with any special instructions about your vision for the finished quilt.

  • Ship with tracking. USPS Priority Mail, UPS, and FedEx all work well. Keep your tracking number until your quilt arrives safely back home.

  • I'll email you when it arrives and again when it's finished and on its way back.

Unless we've discussed another timeline for your quilt, you can expect a turnaround time of approximately two weeks.
